Together with Health Funds for a Smoke-Free Netherlands, SFP has written to EU Commissioner Hoekstra to emphasize the critical importance of the revision of the Tobacco Taxation Directive.

Although the proposal for a revised Tobacco Taxation Directive was anticipated in December 2022, and despite the EU's conclusion that the current directive is inadequate, as well as Member States expressing a need for stronger fiscal measures at the EU level, the proposal has yet to be published. We therefore urgently appeal to Commissioner Hoekstra to expedite this revision.
