Why the increase of tobacco taxes and the revision of the EU Tobacco Tax Directive are urgent

Based on the data presented in this Policy Brief, SFP has produced the following infographics. 

The infographics show the effects of the revision of the current EU Tobacco Tax Directive (TTD) on key indicators (smoking cessation, tobacco-related premature deaths, government revenues). The conclusions are unequivocal: increasing taxes is one of the most effective tools to bring down smoking consumption and therefore the revision of the EU TTD is not only necessary but urgent.
