World Lung Foundation 15,000aday.org campaign

New York, September 2011- 15,000 people die from tobacco every day. Save millions by taking action now.
Tobacco doesn’t discriminate. It will sicken and kill in every country in the world, claiming more than 5 million lives this year alone, most often through noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, heart disease and lung disease. We must form a global response to the world’s #1 preventable killer, and we need your help.
In 2011, the World Lung Foundation launched the 15000aDay.org campaign that has since rallied people from more than 53 countries to urge their UN representatives to take strong action in the upcoming UN Summit on NCDs - a once-in-a-lifetime chance to reverse the trend of this deadly epidemic.
The campaign depends on the actions of people like you urging their family, friends and colleagues to take action- and we are seeing real success. From Argentina to Viet Nam, people are pushing back against deadly tobacco and taking local action. But we need to grow our voice further. At 15000aDay.org/progress you can see if your country has taken action, send an email, and spread the word.
Take action now at 15000aDay.org to help us reach more than 100 countries, and to spread the word about the campaign. We can send a compelling message that the world is united in its desire to see progress against tobacco, and make progress against this deadly, preventable epidemic that is claiming more than 15,000 lives every day.
