SFP on the EU4Health Programme
Monday, 15 June 2020
Brussels, 15 June 2020: SFP published its main points for consideration on the EU4Health programme proposal.
The SFP document highlights the importance of primary and primordial prevention for non-communicable diseases, and underlines the importance of tobacco control measures as outlined in the WHO FCTC, for public health in Europe.
Effective prevention measures incorporating tobacco control would ensure a reduction in the death and suffering from cancer and other NCDs; decrease inequalities in health through a reduced exposure to a major risk factor; decrease economic costs of NCDs and generate health savings.
