Brussels, 6 April 2018 --- New leadership at the Smoke Free Partnership

The Board of the Smoke Free Partnership (SFP) hereby announces that Florence Berteletti will step down as Director of the SFP, effective 9 April 2018. The Board would like to acknowledge Florence’s critical role in the development of the SFP since she joined in 2005, and is grateful to her for her 12 years of hard and dedicated work, which involved significant accomplishments in tobacco control policies in the EU as well as in the wider European region. Florence will continue to work for SFP as a consultant until the end of May. We wish her success in her future career with the World Heart Federation where she will start as Director for Advocacy on June 1st.

At the same time, we are delighted to announce that Anca Toma Friedlander has accepted the position of Acting Director. Anca has worked for SFP since 2012, initially as Senior Policy Advisor. In recognition of her leadership role within SFP, Anca was promoted to Director of Communications and International Policy in 2017. In this role, she has worked to further improve SFP’s positioning and increase its involvement in European and global tobacco control policy debates. Anca has worked very closely with Florence and has represented SFP in public hearings, policy events, capacity-building workshops, and international conferences.

Susanne Løgstrup, President of the SFP, said, “The Board of the SFP is sad to say goodbye to Florence. We will miss her inspiring leadership. We are very pleased that Anca has accepted the position of Acting Director. Anca has proved herself highly effective during her time with the SFP and enjoys the full confidence of the SFP Board and the strong support of the SFP team.
