Contribution from SFP and CNCT to EU Polluter Pays Principle – fitness check of its application to the environment

The Smoke Free Partnership (SFP) and the Comité National Contre le Tabagisme (CNCT) welcome the European Commission’s initiative to conduct a fitness check of the application of the Polluter Pays Principle (PPP) to the environment. We are contributing to this process by providing input on the limits of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme, a form of PPP, as it was introduced by the Single-Use Plastics (SUP) Directive, when it comes to tobacco product waste.
