Adoption of a Comprehensive Prevention Agreement in the Netherlands
Tuesday, 11 December 2018
Brussels, 11 December 2018: the Smoke Free Partnership Coalition expresses its congratulations and support for the efforts taken by the Dutch Government towards a healthier life through the recent adoption of the National Prevention Agreement.
In addressing the main challenges to the health of its citizens, the Agreement adopted a prevention-oriented approach to reduce tobacco use, alcohol abuse and overweight as the main causes of disease and hence a tremendous financial burden on the public health system in the Netherlands.
The signatory organisations are members of the Smoke Free Partnership Coalition, a network of over 40 national and pan-European civil society organisations who work together on policy analysis and advocacy for the implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).
