Alison Cox is Director for Cancer Prevention at Cancer Research UK, responsible for the charity's policy and strategic direction in the area of cancer prevention. Alison has more than twenty years’ experience working on civil society campaigns, including as Programme Director of the Framework Convention Alliance, the global alliance promoting the WHO treaty on tobacco control, and supporting the negotiation of the Protocol on Illicit Trade in Tobacco.
Subsequently, Alison produced the current five-year strategy of the Non-Communicable Disease Alliance aiming to increase the priority of cancer, diabetes, heart and lung diseases on the global development agenda. In 2012, she was the lead author of a UN Development Programme report on the integration of tobacco control into national development plans in low and middle income countries.
